WHY DO A GENDER REVEAL?
It’s a special time to include those close to you in this big milestone! I have always (or ever since it became a popular social media trend) dreamed of having a *PINK* or *BLUE* gender reveal with all of our family and friends. However, because of the times, we knew it would probably just be the two of us for now. To make it special, we hired a photographer (SHOUT OUT to Katie Ruther! She was AMAZING!!) to capture the moment when we found out if Baby was a HE or SHE. We also set up my phone on a tripod to record the “behind the scenes” and our reaction to share with our families!
WHAT TO DO FOR YOUR GENDER REVEAL?
With TONS of options for gender reveals these days, we wanted something special and unique to us – so we opted for smoke bombs at the beach! General note: these are surprisingly hard to find online! Amazon only sells the push pop cannons that last for about 1 second, but we wanted something a little longer. Luckily, genderrevealcelebrations.com has THE best selection of gender reveal products. (BONUS: receive 15% OFF your purchase when you use code lovejessmarie!) The ones we bought lasted for 60-75 seconds which gave us PLENTY of time for all the shots we needed.
HOW TO COORDINATE?
Ask your doctor to put the test results in a sealed envelope, then give to someone you trust! It was HARD to not peek, but I’m so glad we resisted. We met our photographer at our favorite beach, gave her the envelope, closed our eyes, and she handed us the PINK or BLUE smoke sticks. Then she lit them for us, (Pro tip: bring a multi-purpose lighter in case it’s too windy for matches!) counted down and told us when to open our eyes! SURPRISE!
WHAT TO WEAR?
There are numerous companies that cater specifically to maternity dresses and clothing. (PinkBlush Maternity has a great selection!) However, if your gender reveal is around the end of your first trimester / beginning of your second trimester, your bump may not be that big yet! I picked this flowing maxi dress from Lulu’s: Moriah Rose Satin Wrap Maxi Dress. It’s not maternity, and is my usual size, but it definitely would not have fit me later on in the pregnancy. We went with a “pink and blue” theme to coordinate our outfits, which I thought was so pretty with the golden hour sunset and ocean!
We are so excited to meet our precious Baby Girl and cannot believe how quickly the time is passing by!! Obviously my bump is A LOT larger now (I am currently 25 weeks pregnant while writing this!) and I’m eager to share upcoming milestones with y’all! Stay tuned! xoxo
